Brown Colt ex Prima LuceColour: Brown
Asset HistoryPrima Luce was an excellent racehorse, with a Timeform rating of 111. We bought the mare at the December sales in 2009, in foal to Shamardal. Shamardal has been very successful in his early stud career and is the sire of Banc de Fortune's relation, Faint Perfume, and the dual French Classic winner, Lope de Vega. The colt, who was foaled on 22nd March 2010, has always been an excellent individual. He has never had any niggles and vets extremely well. He looks a real racehorse and he attracted an extraordinary amount of interest at the sales, where he conducted himself extremely well. We were quietly confident when he entered the ring, and bidding was brisk up to the 250,000 guineas mark, with Michael Bell, Jeremy Noseda and Anthony Stroud all bidding. After a brief pause, a battle ensued between John Ferguson, standing alongside Sheikh Mohammed, and Tom Goff of Blandford Bloodstock bidding from the top of the stairs. At 330,000 guineas, Sheikh Mohammed called a halt. We understand that the horse has been bought for Bjorn Neilson and he will go into training with David Lanigan. The 330,000 guineas was the eighth highest price on the second day of the sale, and was more than double the next most expensive Shamardal.
