Asset History

As a racehorse, Prima Luce was a smart performer, and had a Timeform rating of 111. She won two races, including a Group Three race as a three year old, and was twice Stakes placed. She is by the mighty Galileo, out of an unraced mare, all of whose five runners have won. The family is very strong, with the speedy Cassandra Go and the Coventry Stakes winner and successful sire Verglas under the second dam. Most importantly, she is very correct and is beautiful looking.

Unfortunately, she was barren to Monsun in 2010, but is now in foal to Oasis Dream, and is believed to be carrying a colt. October 2011

Prime Luce's full sister, Gakalina, won the European Breeders' Fund Maiden Stakes at Brighton on 14th October 2010.

Breeding Capital owns 50% of this mare, who was purchased for 560,000 guineas in December 2009.

Prima Luce's brown yearling colt, by Shamardal, has always been an excellent individual, and he attracted an extraordinary amount of interest at the Tattersalls Book One sales, where he conducted himself extremely well.

We were quietly confident when he entered the ring, and bidding was brisk up to the 250,000 guineas mark, with Michael Bell, Jeremy Noseda and Anthony Stroud all bidding. After a brief pause, a battle ensued between John Ferguson, standing alongside Sheikh Mohammed, and Tom Goff of Blandford Bloodstock bidding from the top of the stairs. At 330,000 guineas, Sheikh Mohammed called a halt. We understand that the horse has been bought for Bjorn Neilson and he will go into training with David Lanigan.

The 330,000 guineas was the eighth highest price on the second day of the sale, and was more than double the next most expensive Shamardal. October 2011

Prima Luce was knocked down to McKeever Bloodstock, acting on behalf of top class breeder Pat O'Kelly, for 825,000 guineas at the December Mare Sale at Tattersalls. It was sad to see such a perfect mare leave our control, but she has done us extremely well. November 2011
